IntroThe 1940s had so many events and in the glog the two events were World War II and Breaking the Color Barrier. But not only events, there were important people like Jackie Robinson and none other than the president himself, Harry S. Truman.

------ 1940's ------

Jackie Robinson put on a Dodgers unform and officially broke the color line. President Truman pushed forward to make a desegrated society while baseball was about to be integrated. During WWII African Americans were in segregated units.

In 1942-43 the Allies attacked German and Italian armies. They seized Africa and the Middle East. The U.S. couldn't escape war because of Italy's invasion on North America. Adolf Hitler took over almost all of Europe. Millions of men were dragged into the army.

Jackie Robinson got a major deal when Branch Rickey signed him for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Rickey was impressed with Robinson and signed him on October 23, 1945. Jackie was the league's batting champion and most valuable player in 1949.
