A New Kind of Woman*August 18, 1920 Congress passed the 19th Amendment and women won the right to vote*Women left home and shed their dependence on men, they got their own jobs and apartments and learned to live on their own.*Women broke from Victorian tradition and cut their hair shorter, hiked up their skirts, and applied make up *Women also broke from traditional dating and with more new found privacy they further embraced their sexuality and and became empowered to find a relationship based on love rather than social status

"No person may be denied the right to vote because of gender."
