14th Amendment

Equal Protection Clause-The clause, which took effect in 1868, provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

It was adopted on July, 9 1868. proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War. Due Process Clause- acts as a safeguard from arbitrary denial of life, liberty, or property by the Government outside the sanction of law.

The 14th Amendment- Created citizenship for Afircan Americans, and created the Equal Protection Clause, Due Process Clause, and deals with post Civil War issues.
