WritingStudents are learning how to explode their P.O.W. (paragraph of the week) into an E.O.W.(essay of the week) This first one will be relating theme to our reading.

ReadingWe finished Touching Spirit Bear with a discussion . I was amazed at the high level talk! Students were assessed on their statements, use of evidence, ability to synthesis, clarify, paraphrase and consideration of others. Our next shared reading will be entitled "The Power of Reading" For independent reading students are reading historical fiction books. They are either with a book partner or small group. They are concentrating on characteristics of the historical fiction genre and knowing when to stop and research unknown information.
