Healthy Weight

Our food choices each day affect our health — how we feel today, tomorrow, and in the future. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Our diet can help us to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote our overall health.

Good Nutrition

Maintaining a healthy weight is important for our bodies. In addition to lowering the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure, it can also lower the risk of many different cancers.

Good personal hygiene is a great way to start a positive life by keeping diseases and virus infections at bay. Not just health problems but there are a lot of social as well as psychological factors that can be improved by staying hygienic (eg. self image, confidence, reputation, etc.)




The benefits of exercise extend far beyond weight management. Research shows that regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of several diseases and health conditions and improve our overall quality of life. Regular moderate physical activity also promotes mental, physical and social well-being; associated with positive self-esteem, greater self-efficacy, improved academic and cognitive performance.



The benefits of sleep are extensive and can make a difference in your quality of life, as well as the length of your life. Over time, chronic sleep deprivation may lead to an array of serious medical conditions including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even early mortality. Sleep health benefits include promoting longevity, improving memory, sharpening attentive span, reducing stress, and reducing risk of depression


Healthy relationships are a vital component of health and well-being. There is compelling evidence that strong relationships contribute to a long, healthy, and happy life. Conversely, the health risks from being alone or isolated in one's life are comparable to the risks associated with cigarette smoking, blood pressure, and obesity.

Drug abuse can result in serious behavioral and emotional changes that ultimately destroy a person’s life. The negative effects from drug abuse can have immediate and long-term consequences. These can include anxiety, mood swings, depression, sleep problems and psychosis. Physical harm or death can result from drug abuse because of reckless behavior by the drug abuser.

Some stress can be good as it can be a motivator, however, having persistently high levels of it and ignoring it can greatly affect our health. The consistent and ongoing increase in heart rate, and the elevated levels of stress hormones and of blood pressure, can take a toll on the body. This long-term ongoing stress can increase the risk for hypertension, heart attack or stroke.


People can use alcohol as an escape route for social, personal or career pressures that can result in abuse or alcoholism. Abuse of alcohol, or consumption of more alcohol than the body can handle, can lead to liver damage and other debilitating conditions. Aside from bodily harm, alcohol use has been linked to depression, anxiety, societal withdrawal, and violent behavior.

Safe sex

Our attitudes about sexuality and our ability to understand and accept our own sexuality are essential aspects of who we are and how we interact with our world. Comfort and acceptance of our sexuality directly affects our ability to make healthy choices and to respect the choices of others. Safe sex is all about protecting oneself and one's partner. By making sure to use protection during sexual activity, it reduces the rate of transferring severe health risks (STIs) as well as prevent any unplanned pregnancies.
