- 45%of all young Australian injury deaths are due to road traffic crashes- Young drivers (17 – 25 years) represent 1/4 of all Australian road deaths, but are only 10 – 15% of the licensed driver population- The biggest killer of young drivers is speeding, 80% of those killed are male- 75% were involved in crashes that occurred during high alcohol times- Statistics show that young drivers aged 17-20 years are 3 times more likely than drivers aged 21-plus years to be involved in a serious crash

Of the 24 young drivers killed in 2014:- 75% were males- 71% were killed on country roads- 63% were killed in single vehicle crashes- 75% were involved in crashes that occurred during high alcohol times- 67% of deaths occurred on 100km/h signposted roads

TEXTING WHILE DRIVING:- In 2011 23% of auto collisions involved mobile phones- 13% of drivers aged 18-20 involved in car wrecks admitted to being on their mobile devices at the time of the crash- 77% of young adults are very confident that they can safely text while driving 15% of young drivers have seen their parents text while driving
