Types of Living Things

Living things can be put into different groups. The two main groups are animals and plants- Take a look at the different types on the page below!

Animals are divided into two main groups. Animals that have a backbone are called vertebrates. Animals that don't have a backbone are called invertebrates.Vertebrates and invertebrates are divided into smaller groups. Vertebrates, for example, are divided into fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. A person is a mammal. Other animals can be put into different groups. Have a look at the different groups of animals below.

Plants are divided into two groups, flowering plants and non-flowering plants.
