Trajan's Column

Trajan's Column was built by order of the Roman Senate to Commemorate Emperor Trajan's victory in the Dacian Wars.

Made of 20 Carrara marble drums stacked on top of eachother, waying about 32 tons each.

Contains a stairwell that leads to a viewing platform on top of the column. You can visit it today, but the stairwell is not open to the public.

Originally the column was topped with a statue of an eagle, but after the emperor's death it was replaced with one of Trajan himself.
