The FirstThe FirstNeil Armstrong, Mike Colins, and Buzz Aldrin were the first men on the moon. This was at the end of the cold war and it triggered huge advancements in science by putting people in space and on the moon.

3 Killed Virgil Grison, Ed White, and Roger Chafee died in a fire on Apollo 1 because of a electical spark that started a fire killing them instantly. The tragedy truly shocked all Americans of this day.

Tragedy7 crew members on the shuttle Challenger died in a explosion. On its 10th mission the Challenger exploded a short 73 seconds after lift-off killing all of the astronauts in a massive explosion in space. This tragedy changed NASA forever. It was a horrible day in US history.

Age is No Matter John H. Glenn was the oldest person in space. When he was younger, he was one of the first people to orbit the Earth 3 times. He went again in 1998 at the age of 77.

MARSNASA sends a robot that we call the Mars Rover or Path Finder. With this robot we have seen some of the first pictures of Mars' surface. This was a break through in science providing us further information about the planet and space.
