solubility- the quantity of a particular substance that can dissolve in a particular solvent

-salt doesnt disolve in alcohol.-salt dissolves in water.-water is the universal solvent because of its polarity.

molecular explanation-water has negative and positive charges which makes it polar. When salt and other substances are added to water, it breaks apart their positive and negative charges causing them to disolve.
