1. Remeber The Human- Remember that the person your talking to online is someone with actual feelings. Also remember the question "would you say it in person?"

2. Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life- Never think that a lower standard of ethics or personal behavior is acceptable online.

3. Know where you are in cyberspace- Check out a site that is new to you before you use it. Remember what is acceptable in one area may not be acceptable in another.

4. Respect other people's time and bandwidth- Don't think you are the center of cyberspace and make sure the things you say are worth something to others. Check to see who would really benefit from what you say.

5. Make yourself look good online - The quality of your writing is the most important online. Make sure you understand what your saying and that it makes sense.

6. Share expert knowledge- If you have or are participating in a group discussion online, then it would be a good idea to share the results of proposed questions you or the group may have.

7. Help keep flame wars under control- Flame wars may be amusing to some, but you should do your best not to perpetuate them.

8. Respect other people's privacy- You may think failing to respect the privacy of others may not be a big deal, but it could cost you more than you think.

9. Don't abuse your power- If you know more things about something online than others, that doesn't give you the right to take the advantage of them.

10. Be forgiving of other people's mistakes- Think twice before you react on someones mistake and if you choose to tell the person about the mistake, be polite about it.
