MLK Speech on Vietnam War 1967

Point from King's Speech"Perhaps a more tragic recognition of reality took place when it became clear to me that the war was doing far more than devastating the hopes of the poor at home." -line 30-33.I agree with King very strongly on this. Instead of helping Americans who are poor, struggling citizens and the violent youth the government send them away to die and be violent in another country. To me it makes it seem like the government doesn’t want to help but only use them for their own benefit. I can’t help but think that they did that just to avoid dealing with them or think of dealing with the poor of the country.

Similar Point in today's worldToday it is a bit different than what happened. On April 12, 2015, Baltimore City Police Department officers arrested Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African American resident of Baltimore, Maryland. Apparently in good health at the time of his arrest, Gray sustained injuries to his neck and spine while in transport in a police vehicle. On April 18, 2015, after Gray's subsequent coma, the residents of Baltimore protested in front of the Western district police station. Gray died the following day, April 19, 2015, a week after the arrest. Further protests were organized after Gray's death became public knowledge, amid the police department's continuing inability to adequately or consistently explain the events following the arrest and the injuries. Spontaneous protests started after the funeral service, although several included violent elements. Civil unrest continued with at least twenty police officers injured, at least 250 people arrested, 285 to 350 businesses damaged, 150 vehicle fires, 60 structure fires, 27 drugstores looted, thousands of police and Maryland Army National Guard troops deployed, and with a state of emergency declared in the city limits of Baltimore. It seems like history is starting to repeat itself, because no matter how much America tries to prevent it seems like it just might repeat.
