MLK Speech on Vietnam War 1967

Point from King's SpeechI have two quotes I would like to share. "To save the soul of America." We were convinced that we could not limit our vision to certain rights for black people, but instead affirmed the conviction that America would never be free or saved from itself until the descendents of its slaves were loosed completely from the shackles they still wear." (linen 64)" So we have been repeatedly faced with cruel irony of watching Negro and white boys on TV screens as they kill and die together for a nation that has been unable to sit them together in the same schools."I picked these two lines because they really sticked out to me and hit home on how I feel sometimes. What I really can relate this to is the police brutality that has happened so much this year. America will never be how it should, until this is completly fixed. They say we are equal but I still see discrimination everyday.

Similar Point in today's worldWhat's similar In todays world that these quotes relate to Is police brutality. This is a big problem that we as a country have encountered this year. It hasn't just started this year, It has been going on but with the help of social media and recordings of the foul behavior of some police It has seemed to be a different incident everyday. Like MLK said In the quote America will never be free or saved from itself until the descendents of its slaves were loosed completely from the shackles they still wear". So far in 2015, U.S. police killed about 776 people. Things need to change and the only way for America to get better is to stop this problem now. And Im going to leave on these words by Langston Hughes I say it plain,America never was America to me,And yet I swear this oath—America will be!
