Animals or Mammalia are classified by the way they reproduce. the two subclasses are mammals and monotremes (egg laying mammals). it has been broken down into placental and non-placental mammals. An example of an egg laying mammal is a platypus or a echidna. Placental animals are the ones whos babies develop within them before being born such as humans.

we are more similar than we think. Take a look at the pig and human fetus below. Don't they look similar?
