1. "The Berenstein Bears In the Dark" My first experience with reading came at around 5 years old. My mom and dad would always read to me before I went to sleep, and for one reason or another, I really loved some of the Berenstein Bears books. I loved them so much I eventually memorized every word on every page. I thought I could read so I'd recite every word to my parents as if I could.

2.Tutoring as a 2nd GraderEventually I found out I wasn't as strong of a reader as I thought I was. 2nd grade was a difficult year for me because I began to fall behind in reading and writing. Against much of my dismay, my parents enrolled me in a tutoring program that was designed to catch me up.

4. High SchoolI went to high school at Buchanan in Clovis, Ca. It was there that I began to take creative writing classes, and I really developed my passion for both reading and writing. My favorite class I ever took was my English class in 11th grade. The professor had a passion for teaching and it really rubbed off on me as a student. I found myself excited to go to his class and do work because he was excited to teach.

3. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"I never really much of a reader up until 5th grade. In 5th grade was when I first discovered Harry Potter, and from then on I was hooked. I read every Harry Potter book as quickly as I could, and I found myself eagerly waiting for each new book to be released. From fifth grade on, I've contintued to be an avid reader.

5. Life as a tutor After growing up being tutored, I never thought I'd be a tutor myself, but that's just how life worked out. I first started tutoring elementary kids in english and math during febuary of 2011, and i've been a tutor ever sense. It's by far my favorite job, and it gives me immense satisfaction seeing kids improve and actually start to enjoy school as a result of being tutored.

6. Life after tutoringI'm not exactly sure what life holds for me after school, I don't know if I want to get my credintial right away or if teaching is even that path I'd like to pursue. Having just taken the CBEST this passed weekend, I can tell you I'm taking steps towards my future, but you never really know what it is you'll end up doing.
