Designed RealismEyvind Earle became the father of Designed Realism when he created his own unique style. Earle had a unique perception of nature, and captured it with vibrant colors and obvious contrast between light and shadows. His paintings were set apart by the expressive quality they contained, which other realist pieces lack.

At age 10, Eyvind's father gave him the choice to either read 50 pages of a book or paint a picture everyday. Earle chose to do both.

At age 21, Earle Bicycled from Los Angeles to New York and payed his way by painting watercolors.

Keane's

Claire Keane Claire Keane is another talented Disney artist. She worked on character design and concept art for Frozen and Tangled, but unlike Eyvind Earle, her concept art was done in ink and/pastel. Keane's piece is a pastel drawing of a woman, like Earle's ''Figure washing hair'' done in oil. Both pieces use curved lines to give the women their forms, and show them suspended on an ordinary colored background. Both paintings emphasize the delicate shape of the women, giving them rounded limbs and small feet.

Serigraphs

At age 8 Eyvind Earle got polio, which left him with the right side of his face paralyzed. As a child, it didn't bother him much, but he got more self-concious as he grew. As he grew older, Earle tried to never smile or laugh, to not bring attention to his crooked face. This went on his whole life.

“If you seek only to imitate, you are seeking outside yourself, and you can never find anything.”-Eyvind Earle

DisneyIn the 1950's, Earle worked for Walt Disney Studios as color stylist and production designer on movies Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Sleeping Beauty, which he is most famous for. The concept art he did for the film gave it it's look and style.
