A total of three spacewalks were performed, during which the crew connected the systems on the installed trusses, prepared them for deployment and did other maintenance work on the ISS.

11 May 2009,Final Hubble Space Telescope Servicing Mission 4. Atlantis carried two new instruments to the Hubble Space Telescope, the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph and the Wide Field Camera 3. The mission also replaced a Fine Guidance Sensor, six gyroscopes, and two battery unit modules. The mission included five spacewalks totaling 37 hours. STS-125 carried an IMAX camera to document the progress of the mission.
