According to a study published in the journal "Nature," scientists at Newcastle University have found a way to successfully transfer DNA between human eggs. Transferring the DNA between eggs stops the passing of mitochondrial DNA that is inherited from the mother.

The process used involves extracting the nuclear DNA from the mother and father from the fertilized egg and inserting it into a donor egg. In this way, the child will have both functioning mitochondria and the genes from his or her parents.
