Invasion of Canada
Who: Isaac Brock- Planned Canada's territory defense and became legendary hero when he was killed at the battle of Qeenston Heights in October 13, 1812 Laura Secord- Warned the soldiers of the Americans and then they ambushed them causing the Americans to surrender. John C. Calhoun of South Carolina, Henry Clay or Kentucky, Fleix Grundy of Tennesse thought we needed to have war with Canada to gain honor.
Where: The invasion took place at four locations: Detroit, around the Niagara Area, at Kingston, and south of Montreal.
Why: 1775- To gain military control of the British Provinence of Quebec, and to convince French/Canadians to join the revolution on the colonists side. (Americans lost) 1812- Americans invaded and gained control over Lake Erie, took over western Ontarid, and gained land that was going to be the beginning of an Indian confederacy. 1813- Bottle of Ogdensburg. American forces to retire. Americans came through the Ogdensburg River to slow down British supply traffic.
What: In a single attempt, the United States tried to take over upper and lower Canada. They were hoping to cut off any British movement into the Great Lakes. If they were successful, Canada may have been part of the United Sates today.
